The Others

London Guest Artist: Rankin

Rankin has photographed everyone from The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Kate Moss, Kendall Jenner and the late Queen Elizabeth II to name only a few. In March he joins The Other Art Fair London as Guest Artist.

Rankin needs little introduction in any circles; a renowned British photographer, publisher, and film director, his work is recognised and celebrated worldwide.

As a publisher, Rankin co-founded the seminal magazine Dazed & Confused with Jefferson Hack in 1991, and has since published the likes of AnOther and AnOther Man, alongside over 40 books and the biannual fashion and culture print and digital platform, Hunger.

His photography has been published everywhere from his own publications to Elle, Vogue, Esquire, GQ, Rolling Stone, and Wonderland, and exhibited in galleries globally, including MoMA, New York, and the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.

Rankin will be joining The Other Art Fair London from 9 – 12 March as Guest Artist, exhibiting a selection of pieces and alongside this, visitors will have the opportunity to buy Rankin prints and a selection of books.

FAQ

How do I get tickets to the Fair?
Please purchase your Fair tickets in advance by visiting Book Fair Tickets.

Do I need a separate ticket for RankinLIVE?
Yes. These must be purchased separately in advance by visiting the RankinLIVE ticketing page. All visitors wishing to take part in a RankinLIVE shoot must also hold a valid ticket for the Fair on the relevant day which can be purchased here.

How much does it cost for a RankinLIVE shoot?
The cost for a RankinLIVE shoot is £420 (one shoot for up to 15 minutes, for 1 or 2 persons). When you book your session, we will take a £60 non-refundable deposit, the balance is then paid at the time of your shoot

Can I choose the date and time?
Yes. Each photo shoot will last up to 15mins and there are limited time slots made available for each day, so early booking is advised. All visitors wishing to take part in a shoot must hold both a Fair ticket and a ticket for a RankinLIVE shoot.

Can I invite friends to join me in the shoot?
Your time slot allows for up to two people to be photographed. If you want a larger group of people then you’ll need to purchase consecutive time slots – one extra time slot per extra person taking part. For every time slot you purchase, you get another print and digital file.

How many prints/photographs will I receive?
Every RankinLive time slot comes with one digital file (for personal digital use) and one authenticated A4 print. However, following the event you will be sent a PDF with extra images and info on how you can get more images from your shoot.

Can I use these photographs for professional purposes, for example, a headshot?
All digital images are supplied for “Personal digital use”. This means images cannot be printed for display or distributed through any print media. Digital files are for personal social media, Linkedin and personal website use. They cannot be used on commercial or professional websites or posted online in affiliation with any for-profit organisations without further approval from archive@rankin.co.uk.

Can I bring my child to be photographed with me?
Every RankinLive time slot can be used for a group photograph of up to two people. This could be you and your child, but it’s worth remembering that the photoshoot is conducted in public at The Other Art Fair, so it can be noisy and distracting for kids.

How early should I arrive before my session?
We recommend arriving at the RankinLIVE booth at the start of your allocated time slot. Your up to 15 minute shoot with Rankin will then be assigned within that slot when you arrive. Please arrive no later than 30 minutes before the end of your timeslot so that you have enough time to sign the photo release and finalise balance of payment.

What happens if I miss my booking?
Because we’re on a tight shoot schedule, there is no guarantee that if you miss your allotted time slot that we will be able to re-schedule your shoot. But please still check in at the RankinLIVE booth when you arrive at the Fair and we will try to squeeze you in.

Will my image be in colour or black and white?
Most RankinLive images are shot in black and white. His most iconic portraiture style.

What should I wear for my shoot?
The RankinLive backdrop is White, so for best results we advise not to wear white or really light colours. Patterns and elaborate clothing can look really fun, but don’t always translate on camera. The key though is to feel confident, so wear something you love.

Can my friends watch me have my photograph be taken?
RankinLIVE at The Other Art Fair, London will take place in the public exhibition space, so feel free to bring your friends to cheer you on.

How much will I have in terms of direction?
Rankin and his world-renowned team will direct you through the shoot – giving you a true supermodel experience.

What is the process after my image has been taken?
You’ll get to see all of your images from the photoshoot via a PDF after the Fair, and can confirm with editions@rankin.co.uk exactly which file you would like to be printed. These are printed under The Rankin Studio’s direct supervision and will be dispatched within 10-15 working days.

Do I have to sign any kind of photo release?
You will be given a photo release to sign before your photoshoot takes place. It confirms you’re happy to proceed and that you understand Rankin’s copyright rights as a photographer. The team will be there to answer any questions you may have.

What’s Rankin’s authentication procedure?
Your RankinLive image will come with a signed certificate of authenticity and signed studio sticker. This makes it part of Rankin’s official portfolio, with your image becoming part of his artwork catalogue raisoné

Can I bring my dog?
