Illustrator Bill Hope took part in The Other Art Fair Sydney in October 2016. His quirky and detailed images were a unique addition to the collection of art being showcased at the fair.
How would you describe your artwork?
My work is illustrative and detailed, it blends a classical sensibility and approach to composition with contemporary subject matter and themes.
What does making art mean to you?
It’s my way of exploring ideas and sharing with those around me.
How did you get started making art?
I’ve always been drawing, I’m just doing it as a job now.
What is it like to be a part of The Other Art Fair?
Really great! It was a fantastic way to engage with members of the public and get some feedback on the work. I met some great other artists and have secured a new illustration representative as a result.
What is your favourite piece for sale on your SA profile and why?
Probably “Raft” as it’s the newest and feels the most comprehensive of the works on show. People really engaged with it’s ideas and it has inspired me to move some work in a more political direction.
