London: Naomi Vona Workshop Series

Self-confessed ‘archival parasite, with no bad intentions’, Italian artist Naomi Vona‘s work focuses on altering vintage and contemporary found images to create a new interpretation of the original shots. Her dynamic and colourful work combines different interests like photography, collage and illustration, transforming and reviving images using just pens, paper, coloured tape and stickers. In short, every composition is a delicate balance of three elements: her life background, her inspirations and subconscious, that is also the glue that puts it all together.

Naomi has put together a programme of workshops for our upcoming summertime edition of The Other Art Fair London, 4-7 July in King’s Cross. See below for further details on how to get involved!

Thursday 4th July

6-8pm: Pride Poster Collage With Naomi Vona (free, drop in)

In conjunction with the annual Pride in London parade, we will celebrate with two special FREE drop in sessions of collage fun. This workshop will be focused on altering by hand vintage pride print portraits on a large scale (A3 and A4 size). A variety of unusual colourful materials will be provided as washi tape, stickers and marker pens. All materials provided, but we encourage you to bring your own prints to customise as well.

Saturday 6th July

12-2pm: From Fashion Ad To Protest, Doodle Art With Naomi Vona (£20pp. Pre-booking required. Book here.)

What happens when we turn the purpose of a fashion advertising image into a more deep and meaningful message? During the workshop we will explore the infinite possibilities in doodling over a magazine page using eye catchy decorations, but we will not stop at it. The idea is to give to the picture a new message and switching it into a fun, humorous or more personal and powerful protest message. The artist Naomi Vona will lead the workshop offering guidance and knowledge of her processes and techniques for manipulating images. All materials provided, feel free to bring a fashion magazine from home if you want.

Pre Booking required, tickets available on EventBrite.
