Inside the Studio
Marta Zawadzka aims to capture the soul
What are the major themes you pursue in your work?
I love to paint abstractions inspired by my travels and people. My goal is to capture the essence of someone’s soul. I am fascinated by people who have unusual and strong characters. They inspire me not only in painting but also in everyday life.
What was the best advice given to you as an artist?
First love and believe in yourself and do only what your heart tells. And secondly, always practice!
Prefer to work with music or in silence?
Just with music, as it has a big impact on my well-being and my paintings.
If you could only have one piece of art in your life, what would it be?
It would have to be Composition VIII, 1923 by Wassily Kandinsky.
Who are your favorite writers?
The poet, Wislawa Szymborska, who is also the Polish Nobel Laureate. She writes short limericks that I love.
