5 Ways Saatchi Art Supports Emerging Artists

At Saatchi Art we are committed to redefining the experience of buying and selling art by providing art lovers with complimentary art advisory services and an expertly curated selection of art, and giving artists opportunities to exhibit and sell their work to a global audience. As the world’s leading online gallery, offering more than 500,000 original paintings, drawings, sculptures and photographs by over 60,000 emerging artists from over 100 countries – the numbers are impressive! Collectors and artists alike don’t often realize that Saatchi Art is lovingly operated by a team of just over 30 people. Based in Santa Monica, Ca we’re all avid art-lovers and very passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of our artists.

At Saatchi Art, we pride ourselves on supporting emerging artists and providing our community with the best possible experience. Since our inception, we have welcomed all artists to showcase their portfolios free of charge, paid artists 70%—well above the industry standard—on every artwork sold, and worked to provide superior customer service to both our artists and collectors without fail.

In honor of Small Business Saturday, we’d like to explore just five of the things we do at Saatchi Art to support real working artists every day.

1. #ArtistofTheDay

Each and every day, Saatchi Art features a new #ArtistOfTheDay. We share an image of the artist’s work, their name and a link to their portfolio on Saatchi Art to our 1 Million+ social media followers.

2. We Handle The Shipping. You Only Pay For the Box!

That’s right. When you sell an artwork on Saatchi Art, the collector pays the total cost of shipping – you only pay for shipping materials. Better yet, Saatchi Art offers competitive flat rate shipping, guaranteeing your collector will be happy, and so will you!

If you’re an artist you know that shipping your artwork is one of the most difficult and stressful parts of your business. Now factor in shipping your artwork internationally – and you’ve got customs, and a long, oftentimes bumpy journey to account for as well.

Saatchi Art’s world class operations team handles these hassles so you can spend less time worried about shipping, and more time making your art. We provide detailed packing instructions with helpful online tutorials to ensure your artwork is protected and arrives in excellent condition every time you ship. Our operations specialists coordinate pickup direct from your home or studio, and shepherd your artwork until it’s safely delivered to the collector.

3. Art Advisory

Think of our team of real, human curators as your dedicated advocates. They work around the clock to connect collectors and designers from all over the world with artwork they will love – your artwork! Free of charge, they scour the Saatchi Art community for works that will fit each collector’s style, taste and budget. Our Chief Curator and VP Art Advisory, Rebecca Wilson, looks at every single artwork uploaded to Saatchi Art, thousands of artworks per day. Lucky for her, she has a photographic memory!

If a collector is looking for something quite specific – or an interior designer needs something custom – our curators also facilitate commissions.

4. The Saatchi Art Catalog

Four times a year, we publish and distribute The Saatchi Art Catalog. Each mailing goes out to approximately 250,000 collectors, art lovers and members of the trade in the U.S. and U.K. Nearly 1Million catalogs were sent in 2016 alone! Each of our unique Catalogs contains dozens of artworks for sale by Saatchi Art artists as well as information on how to buy from us online or work with our Art Advisory program.

5.  Offline Events

Saatchi Art not only offers artists a way to immediately begin advertising and selling their artworks to a global audience of collectors online, we also provide in-person exposure for our artists through offline events. In 2016 alone, Saatchi Art presented works by our artists at the following art fairs, exhibitions and trade presentations: The Affordable Art Fair (NYC), Art Southampton (NY), Hamptons Contemporary (NY), HD Expo (Las Vegas), The Lloydcrest Estate Collection (Beverly Hills), Détail Contemporain (Paris), Body Architecture (London), Sunset Magazine Idea House (San Francisco), BDNY (NYC) and through four exhibits at our gallery in Santa Monica. Through our collaboration with The Other Art Fair, we are able to open up even more opportunities for our artists to present their work through TOAF offline. The Other Art Fair currently hosts fairs in London, Bristol, Sydney, Australia and will be expanding to Brooklyn, NY in 2017.
