How would you describe your artwork?

My work explores theme of gender and politics surrounding Jamaican pop culture, specifically the culture surrounding dancehall music.

What does making art mean to you?

The creative process offers me an outlet to explore my world and culture and a voice to question and comment on it.

How did you get started making art?

I’ve always been very interested in art, when I was little my mother was great at encouraging my creativity and I guess I have just kept going with it.

What is it like to be a part of The Other Art Fair?

The Other Art Fair has been a great experience to interact with a large audience. I’ve enjoyed talking about my work and techniques with a far more diverse audience than I would have been able to reach with a traditional art  exhibition.

What is your favourite piece for sale on your SA profile and why?

‘The Youth’, 25.3 H x 33.9 W, $3750

My favourite piece for sale on my SA profile is The Youth. I really enjoy the interaction between the two figures, it kind of sums up Jamaican gender politics.
