The Others

Meet The Others: Chris Humphries

The Game Changers. The Rule Breakers. The Innovators. Discover some of the fantastic emerging talent showcasing their work at The Other Art Fair.

Chris Humphries depicts his interest in the Australian Landscape through a gothic and noir lens.  His recent work focuses on locations such as Hanging Rock in Victoria and Bruny Island in Tasmania, and questions the notion of presenting traditional Australian Landscape imagery in a contemporary context.

How would you describe your artwork?

My artwork conveys my passion and dedication towards worthy draughtmanship.

What does making art mean to you?

A sense of wellbeing and purpose. As well as being able to communicate ideas and concepts through a visual medium and creating my own visual language is important.

How did you get started making art?

It was really the only subject at school I liked and was good at.  I have always been determined to make it my career, having acquired a Bachelor of Fine Arts many years ago.

What is it like to be a part of The Other Art Fair?

The Other Art Fair gave me the opportunity to expose my work to a whole new audience and sell my work.

What is your favourite piece for sale on your Saatchi Art profile and why?

‘Great Bay, Bruny Island’, as it is a work I laboured over for sometime and I ended up very happy with the result. Bruny Island, Tasmania is also possibly my favourite place in Australia.
