Magnus Gjoen

Magnus Gjoen was born in London to Norwegian parents and studied design in London and Milan. He worked as a designer for Vivienne Westwood, amongst others, and his fashion background infuses his art, which re-thinks old concepts for a contemporary audience. His work explores how to change people’s preconceived notions about objects, taking inspiration from the street and pop art and juxtaposing it with fine art. Magnus creates new and modern takes on old masters, questioning the correlation between religion, war beauty, destruction and art.
