Inside the Studio
Maria Louceiro
Favorite material to work with?
Papers with different textures, the older the better!
How many years as an artist?
About four years.
What themes do you pursue?
Mainly the nature-versus-mankind theme, melancholy, life as a dream.
Where is your studio?
For now in my lovely, tiny bedroom, but will move to a better place soon.
What was the best advice given to you as an artist?
Do what you want to do with your work, not what others want to see or whats fashionable or hip at the time.
Art school or self taught?
From 2009-2010 I was self taught, but in 2010 I went to a design school.
Prefer to work with music or in silence?
Silence is just as good as good music.
What’s around the corner from your place?
Casa de Música.
Where can we find you outside the studio?
Lovely gardens, cinemas, quiet coffee shops…
If you couldn’t be an artist, what would you do?
I graduated in engineering before studying design, so I guess it would be that!
What do you collect?
Mainly old things, like old postcards, books, different textures, etc.
Favorite contemporary artist?
I don’t have a favorite contemporary artist, only favorite pieces of art.
If you could only have one piece of art in your life, what would it be?
A certain Yamamoto Masao photograph.
