Venice Beach: A Day in the Life with Isabelle Alford-Lago

Discover Venice Beach seen from the eyes of a local artist in “A Day in the Life of Isabelle Alford-Lago.” This week, fresh off adding a new gorilla to her ever-growing collection of murals around Los Angeles, Isabelle offers a peak into her daily life in Venice Beach, showing us her favorite spots along the way…

Morning is my favorite time of day, and I love going running or biking by the beach, which is only a few blocks from my house. Being active outdoors always helps me clear my mind and feel energized.

Breakfast – that means coffee! Then I like to make a healthy bowl of fruit, granola and yogurt. My food doesn’t always look this healthy, but it was a shining moment.

I got this Linus bike after working with the company and Cycle City of Angels on a mural project. I’m in love with it! The studio where I work is a converted two-car garage behind my house, so I’m lucky I don’t have a commute. I also have a car for going to other parts of LA, picking up supplies, and taking weekend trips.

I just moved to this studio last month so it’s freshly organized and clean, however give it time and it will start showing signs of chaos! It’s been awesome spreading out the new space and getting work in progress.

Gjelina has amazing coffee and food. The secret patio is a great place to take a break, meet up with friends for a drink, and people watch.

Venice Heights is a new gallery in the neighborhood, which curates shows of artists and clothing designers. We worked together this past summer and put on a great event. I always like to stop by to see the art and go to their openings.
