Tell us about who you are and what you do. What’s your background?
I’m Ecaterina Vorona, an artist specializing in figurative art. I focus on depicting people in motion and capturing emotions, as well as creating scenic interior and landscape paintings. My artistic journey began with a deep interest in visual arts, particularly in conveying movement and emotions through human figures. I studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kishinev.
What does your work aim to say? What are the major themes you pursue in your work?
My work celebrates the beauty of human movement and emotions. I explore themes such as human connection, resilience, and introspection. For example, in pieces like “Dancers in Motion,” I strive to capture the fluidity of movement and the emotional depth of human expression within the context of serene landscapes or dynamic interior settings.
Can you walk us through your process for creating a work from beginning to end?
My creative process starts with conceptualizing ideas and gathering visual references. I sketch preliminary compositions to refine gestures and compositions. Next, I select a color palette to enhance the intended mood. During painting, I focus on capturing the essence of movement and emotion through layers of brushstrokes and careful attention to light and shadow. Finally, I add details to enrich the narrative and overall impact of the artwork.
Who are your biggest influences, and why?
Influences such as Edgar Degas and Henri Matisse inspire me with their mastery of portraying movement and emotion. Their emphasis on capturing fleeting moments and evoking strong emotional responses through color and form has profoundly influenced my approach to figurative art.
How does your work comment on current social and political issues?
While my primary focus is on aesthetic and emotional expression, my work subtly comments on themes of human connection and introspection. By depicting moments of contemplation or shared experiences, I hope to encourage viewers to reflect on their own lives and relationships in today’s fast-paced world.
