The Others

Meet The Others: Francisco Jose Jimenez

The Game Changers. The Rule Breakers. The Innovators. Discover some of the fantastic emerging talent showcasing their work at The Other Art Fair.

Spanish born Francisco Jose Jiménez’s work explores the intimate and personal ways of seeing the human form. He confronts parallel themes of isolation and attachment as a duality of the human condition. Francisco’s aim is to immerse the viewer in his world with his characteristically strong style. His paintings represent a world of intimate places, imperfections, and sensibility, which follows the lines of the human body and the aura that surrounds people.

How would you describe your artwork?

I would say that my artworks reflect my own vision of the people. All their imperfections, the traces of their bodies, and the auras surrounding them. They express my constant fight for finding a meaning of myself in the person I paint as well. When I finish a piece, my satisfaction can be measured by the success I had of reflecting myself as the person in the canvas. My work tries to capture the soul and the innocence of the human form through the textures, lines, and colours.

What does making art mean to you?

Art is everything to me. It’s the way I’m able to express everything I cannot express through words. Art is always around me. The more interested you are in it, the more demanding it becomes

How did you get started making art?

That was long time ago. When I was a kid I didn’t realize I had the skill, but once you start to develop some different techniques and see how people appreciate your work, it was then that it became my whole life. The style, the colours, the paintings in general… they change with time. It’s an evolution that grows, and I always think that devoting my life to it makes me grow as a person as well.

What is it like to be a part of The Other Art Fair?

As a foreign artist, The Other Art Fair gave me the first possibility ever to show my art to a broad number of people in London. Since then, my reputation as an artist has not stopped increasing and more and more I am getting involved in different projects with galleries. For me, in addition to the prestige that The Other Art Fair can give you, it has also become an event where I feel very at home. Hopefully it will last for more years.

What is your favourite piece for sale on your Saatchi Art profile and why

All of them are really important for me, as every piece is part of my life as an artist.  But, I would say that probably the painting entitled “Intimacy” is one of my favourite pieces. It transmits something special to me.
